2010 CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD
I invite you to become a member of Wyandotte County’s most active, beneficial, results oriented business association, the Kansas City Kansas Chamber of Commerce.
Kansas City, Kansas and Wyandotte County have enjoyed extraordinary successes over the past 10 years. On the business side, the area has become “the place to be,” from Kansas Speedway to Village West to Schlitterbahn to a destination resort casino in Wyandotte County. The eastern half of our community continues to grow with new housing opportunities, the opening of several new restaurants, the emergence of a vibrant arts community, and the continued work on the downtown master plan. Being actively engaged in the community right now should be a priority for everyone.
For over a century, the Kansas City Kansas Chamber of Commerce has met the needs and wishes of this community and we will continue to search out new economic opportunities for Kansas City Kansas and look to redevelop our urban areas.
We will continue to implement a $2 million five-year plan with our sister organization Wyandotte Economic Development Council allowing us to concentrate on five core areas:
· Retention and expansion of existing businesses
· Marketing and recruitment of new businesses for targeted industries fitting our community’s assets
· Workforce development to ensure our existing and future job needs are met
· A downtown resource center to house the “New Chamber” as a portal to the new downtown. This space will continually tout the successes of the campaign and community redevelopment as a whole
· Flexible resources for special or emerging economic development opportunities
The board, staff and I look forward to engaging the Kansas City Kansas community in continuing the chamber’s mission to create a quality community in which to live and work. I hope that you will join us in our mission.
